Non-Government Organization / Energy

Background

In partnership with an international communications agency, we supported a cycle of media relations campaigns aimed at shaping public and political discourse around energy efficiency and building renovation. This was a key legislative initiative under negotiation in 2023–2024. Each activation had its unique angle, but all shared one objective – to drive legislative ambition and public awareness in Poland regarding the urgency of building renovation.

Challenge

The issue of building renovation might seem technical, but it sits at the intersection of climate policy, public health, and economic resilience. Poland has one of the least energy-efficient building stocks in Europe, with a large percentage of homes lacking proper insulation. But this is more than a numbers game. It’s about heat waves, child health, air quality in schools, and energy poverty. Our job was to humanise this debate and enhance the voices of those most affected.

What did we do?

We rolled out a public affairs-driven media campaign, highlighting the stakes for Poland. We secured nationwide coverage across multiple angles – from the impact of heatwaves on elderly residents to energy poverty in homes and even pioneering schools implementing modern energy-efficient design. Each press release was backed by case studies, quotes from NGOs, healthcare and housing experts, and real-life stories. We made sure these stories landed in influential media read by decision-makers, including top-tier national press and radio outlets.

Scope of work

  • Leading on project strategy and local execution.
  • Creating press releases supported by expert commentary and research data.
  • Securing expert interviews in national media, including NGOs and community stakeholders.
  • Producing case studies.
  • Securing publications in major media outlets, including Rzeczpospolita, Gazeta Wyborcza, Super Express, Tok FM, Globenergia.
  • Ensuring visibility of the campaign across legislative milestones and relevant public debate windows.

Results

The campaign achieved broad media traction. We secured several high-impact publications in the context of energy efficiency and building renovation in top-tier media outlets. Our press releases linked the issue to concerns like rising energy bills, children’s health and the need for heat-resilient buildings. With each media activation, we contributed to building pressure for stronger legislative outcomes, proving how powerful storytelling can shift momentum in policy debates.
